An innovative space in the heart of Alicante
The Water Intelligence Center (CiA) of Aguas de Alicante is located in Plaza Séneca in the city of Alicante, in the "Gymnasium of Ideas" building of the former Fire Station. This space is part of the Alicante Futura Territories Network and represents our commitment to innovation, sustainability and transparency in water management.
What is the CiA?
The Water Intelligence Center is an innovative space that integrates cutting-edge technology with an open collaboration model. Here we work to protect the environment and optimize the use of water resources in a context of climate crisis.
The CiA houses:
- The Innovation Department of Aguas de Alicante, where we develop R&D&I projects focused on the efficiency and sustainability of the urban water cycle.
- An Operations Hub that enables integrated and real-time management of water, environmental and climate risk services through advanced digital solutions: digital twins, artificial intelligence and continuous monitoring.
A living water laboratory
The CiA functions as a "Living Lab", an open innovation model where citizens, companies, universities and public administration work together in the co-creation of solutions.
Our center is integrated into the European network of Water-Oriented Living Labs, which connects us with experiences and knowledge at an international level and projects Alicante's innovative ecosystem in Europe.
Collaboration and citizen participation
The space is designed to foster collaboration. It features a versatile agora area that hosts:
- Hackathons to bring students and entrepreneurs closer to the development of water solutions
- Innotransfer calls aimed at startups and the innovative ecosystem
- Communities of Practice that bring together diverse interest groups
- And in general, open innovation events, training, entrepreneurship and co-creation
