1st Edition Aguas de Alicante Data Hackathon
Aguas de Alicante challenges you to transform digital "raw material" into real solutions. We give you access to our Open Data Portal so you can use real remote reading information (consumption, patterns, neighborhoods) and cross-reference it with external sources. Your goal: revolutionize the management of the integral water cycle with creativity and technology.
We're not just looking for code, we're looking for impact. You have total creative freedom to develop a solution that provides social and environmental value.
And for this, you'll have a mentoring program with experts from the University of Alicante and Aguas de Alicante to help you refine your idea before presenting it to the jury.
Context and objectives
The Aguas de Alicante Data Hackathon is an initiative promoted by Aguas de Alicante which, in collaboration with the University of Alicante, aims to put technology at the service of society to respond to new contexts, thanks to open innovation and public-private collaboration, needs, challenges and applications within the area of the city of Alicante.
In recent years, thanks to remote reading and citizen collaboration, Aguas de Alicante has collected water consumption data, remotely and in real time, from all municipalities in the metropolitan area. These data allow consumption to be known daily and from any location, both for users and for the company. This competition seeks to maximize the value of these and other open data to respond to major environmental and social challenges through public-private collaboration between universities, technology centers and companies. In addition, it aims to create an ecosystem of inspiration and creativity where innovation and talent are promoted and knowledge and experiences are shared during the program.
What does the challenge consist of?
It's an open innovation challenge. You must use the water consumption data provided by Aguas de Alicante, along with any external data sources you want to incorporate, to generate disruptive proposals that improve water efficiency and offer a valuable service to citizens.
Who is it aimed at?
Students enrolled at the University of Alicante (Undergraduate, Master's or Doctorate) from any field of knowledge. Participation is in multidisciplinary teams of 3 to 5 people.
