To innovation and digitalisation

We understand innovation as a driver of transformation. Beyond applying technologies and tools, we remain committed to talent, knowledge and problem-solving in a creative and proactive way, promoting alliances and collaboration with all social actors.

Innovation and digital transformation are great allies in addressing the challenges posed by water management in a context of climate change like the current one, which makes us increasingly vulnerable to extreme events such as droughts and floods, as well as water scarcity. We constantly innovate in our water management and in the search for new solutions to optimise operations, protect natural resources and ultimately provide better service to our customers.

Constant innovation and digital commitment for efficient management, the sustainability of water resources and service to citizens

A clear example of this strategy is the European project LIFE MERLIN, in which Aguas de Alicante participates. This initiative, co-financed by the LIFE Program (LIFE23-CCM-ES-LIFE MERLIN 101158094), seeks to maximize biogas production in wastewater treatment plants, with the goal of achieving energy self-sufficiency. To do this, it will use innovative sludge pretreatment technologies, along with the development of a digital decision-support tool for the co-digestion of waste from the food industry.

Among other initiatives, it is also important to highlight the Comprehensive Digitalization Plan of Aguas de Alicante, financed by the European Union within the framework of the PRTR (PERTE for the digitalization of the water cycle). This project will enable a high degree of digitalization of all phases of the water cycle. To this end, actions are being undertaken in all areas of the water cycle, from collection to reuse, modernizing the sensorization of infrastructures, and maximizing the value of data through Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, with the objectives of efficiency, transparency, and sustainability. The proposed solutions have as their fundamental criterion the preservation of water resources in a context of permanent scarcity, the reduction of energy consumption, and the reduction of impact on the natural environment.

Innovation has also made it possible to improve service to consumers, as in the case of remote meter reading, a technological solution that allows water meter readings to be taken remotely. This technology, in addition to being efficient, allows water consumption to be monitored at any time, making it possible to detect leaks or activate alarms so that the customer receives email notifications in case of consumption higher than usual.

A driver of change

It is essential to develop solutions that protect natural resources and address climate change, driving digital transformation in water management and the promotion of the circular economy.

Advanced technology and experience

The combination of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the experience of our team allows us to optimise operations and address the effects of climate change on the management of natural resources.

.

Public-private collaboration

We promote the creation of collaborative ecosystems between universities, research centres, government agencies and companies, strengthening leadership in the complete water cycle and environmental services.

Comprehensive digitization of Aguas de Alicante PERTE

Aguas de Alicante will implement 45 digitalization initiatives for the integral water cycle. The project, which covers everything from water collection to reuse, aims to achieve a high degree of digitalization in all phases of the water cycle in Alicante and neighboring municipalities.

Innovation projects

Aguas de Alicante promotes innovation in all its areas through technological monitoring and advanced solutions. It has developed more than 26 projects in fields such as leak detection, energy efficiency, resource management, and flood mitigation. Collaboration with universities, technology centers, and international organizations enables them to participate in European programs and expand the scope of their innovative initiatives.
