The short film Evaporarse (Evaporate) by Antonio Ferrer Martínez from Alicante was named this morning's winner of the first short film competition ‘Mójate con el Agua’ (literally 'soak yourself with water'). The competition, held by Aguas Municipalizadas de Alicante, the company that manages the city's water, is designed to raise awareness of tap water consumption, responsible use of this resource and the advantages of effective complete water management in people's lives.

The jury, which presented the prize at an event in the Museo del Agua, valued the quality of shots of water, the photography and 'the small details that enriched the work; altogether, a good idea that was well executed', as film-maker Domingo Rodes noted. Above all, the film was valued for its simple message about the life cycle and water and the commitment to responsible use of this vital resource.

During the event, with which Aguas Municipalizadas de Alicante ended a year full of activities to celebrate its 120 years of managing tap water in the city, it was noted that the competition had been well-received, in terms of the quality, quantity and originality of participants' proposals. In total, eleven short films were submitted in this first edition, which 'highlight the drive, enthusiasm and creativity of Alicante society', as the company stated.
